cayuga?... I love the first year layers.. the eggs start off black.. then lighten as they lay more.. problem is the coating on them is VERY easy to scratch off... but some of the grey eggs have rather unique patterns on the shells

Add emu and ostrich to the list of "not enough brains to tan their hides".. since they have "leather" you would tan them like a fur bearer.. but with such tiny heads there is no way you'll get enough brains to cover all that hide!
i only avoid brain tanning because I like to save the skulls.. I don't like to make any large holes in there to remove the brains
