I was sitting here drinking my coffee and reading forums on backyardchickens when I heard something on my porch. I figured it must be the chickens since I had put out some leftovers last night for the cats. Well the noise kept on and then I remembered that I haven't turned the chickens loose today. I had to go see what was on my porch then because cats don't have tickety sounding nails. Look what I found.

There were 5 when I first went to look but by the time I could get my phone on (and why the heck does it need to scan media files EVERY time I turn it on!) and ready, these two were the only ones left. I didn't know that my leftovers would attract buzzards. Stray cats yes, but I didn't think they smelled that bad.

AWWW... I love buzzards!

We used to have a "resident pet" one.. named him Charlie.. he used to come when called because he knew he would get some raw meat if he showed up...

I've wanted a baby one for years.. but it's "frowned upon" here in Texas

From what I saw it looks like I have different breeds. One had a really bright read head, one had a grey head, and one had some really pretty markings around it's eyes that were almost blue. It was a surprise to find them on my porch this morning, that's for sure. But now I know who keeps taking off with my cushions from my porch swing. I saw one trying to drag it away. I think it's because it's a faux leather maybe. I don't know but it was strange seeing them try to take my cushions.

ETA If they leave a baby one on my porch I might have to bring it to you. I wouldn't have a clue what to do with it.

Good Morning!

I love watching them soar over our place. They are so peaceful to watch. Mom always said I belong in the sky--I sure hope that was what she meant.

Cleaned out the brooder again (cat's mistook it for a litterbox

). This time I decided to rearrange. I added a couple of small boxes of different heights. I added a new perch that sits on a diagonal so it's a little more challenging than the straight perch but it goes up higher. All in all I made it so they could have something different to do. The first thing they did when I put them back in the brooder? Bury themselves in the bedding, get 'lost' behind the box, and spill their water all over the place! I guess it's time for a bigger waterer that our fat chip chick can't knock over.
