The almost finished coup/run. still need to apply some HW cloth on the "eaves" as you can see, but i hinged the roof so i can get in, and actually didnt even use the one hing i bought so i didnt spend a dime on this project, only time, sweat, and tears (sweat getting in your eyes stings!)

Here are my two EE's scoping things out, and the rear end of one of the BR's

A group shot of the T"eggs"ans checking out their new feeder...

Bonnie, My EE that has a real golden campine look to her

Elvis(Elvira) the friendliest of my chicks! BA

And one of the BR's that was in mid peck, lol....cant tell these three guys apart for life of me, and they all act the same....so yeah!

But there we go! i feel official now! seems like anyone can have a box with chicks in it, but once you got a filled coup its offiicial! thanks everyone who has been answering my questions to this point! but im sure there is plenty more to come!

Cleaned out the brooder again (cat's mistook it for a litterbox

). This time I decided to rearrange. I added a couple of small boxes of different heights. I added a new perch that sits on a diagonal so it's a little more challenging than the straight perch but it goes up higher. All in all I made it so they could have something different to do. The first thing they did when I put them back in the brooder? Bury themselves in the bedding, get 'lost' behind the box, and spill their water all over the place! I guess it's time for a bigger waterer that our fat chip chick can't knock over.

cats can be... yeah..... ick
I have a few barn cats that need to move back outside.. my poor houseplants don't stand a chance unless I keep the plants locked in different rooms

yeah...dont expect quite that many! but found out that my LFS will do personal order from IDEAL...might just have to grab some dorking when i get my meaties....

in other news.. I wonder if Copperas Cove is on fire?? (I was checking the interwebs when I found the Waco chicken incident)

I think all of Kempner's trucks headed that way.. then I heard four more (Lampasas maybe?) headed that way a few minutes later...

oh yeah, they're meaties..
I know I would have grabbed some too (I have actually... lol.. when I lived in Delaware I snagged quite a few off the highways after crates fell off the chicken trucks!)

I'm guilty of it too. Though mine were because a neighbor wouldn't keep her roos out of my yard back when I lived in waco. They were awfully tasty. She had four roos who would come over and attack my poor one little roo. I warned her twice, the last warning I said if I see them again I will cook them. And cook them I did.

I cant wait to cook my own birds!!! Unfortunately ive grow attached to this crew...hence why i want some meaties! Hard to believe that they would be ready for harvest at the age of my guys now! My chicks are like the size of a quail or something...maybe pheasant, whatever one is bigger. Sorry showing my newbie-ness
