That's nice! I love the creosote poles. Those should last a while. I was thinking of using some railroad cross ties. GREAT JOB!!!

Can you use creosote around chickens? I've heard things on both sides of this and was wondering what people in Texas think.
I don't think an older creosote pole will hurt anything. They are gooey on the outside when they are new and will actually make a black ring on the ground around the bottom in Texas summers. I wouldn't use new ones at all. I've had creosote burns from fresh power poles. Once they are a few years old it's much better. fentressfarmer's look just right. I know some people won't even use pressure treated wood. As long as they are not eating it, I'm not real worried about it.

So the first batch of 9 is officially outside!!! Hooray! Rogged the top of the coup with some more hinges so incan get in. Got a 3ish gallon waterer and. 5lb feeder in the run!! Will def take some pics once the chickens get settled in...only 5 have ventured to run so far!

Now gotta clean up all my tools, scattered all over the yard. Ugh!

Okay. Just to make sure they aren't still sticky. Got it.

I'll hold you to that!

I do know of a breeding ground for them not too far from my home.. but the guy who owns the barn where they nest isn't very fond of people bothering the buzzards..
