Oh don't worry, they are fine in the snow. Mine love it - well all of them except for my EE, who is named Gallena and really acts like she's Latina. The frost bite is more for any sort of cold weather, not just snow. You can put a little vaseline on their combs and wattles if you're concerned. Mostly they need a windbreak. I worry about my hens much more in the heat than the cold. Don't forget, they're wearing down jackets! Also, snow acts as an insulator so I usually leave it on the roof, just clear off any areas where it might melt and drip and freeze and crack something. Make sure they have drinkable water too, otherwise, you're good. This was the first time J.Lo the White Rock had ever seen snow. She went on a little adventure through the pines all by herself.
Thanks well they scoped it out for about five minutes and went right back in the coop they've been in and out but mostly in well at least they checked it out. :)

Heya everyone. For those that don't know I'm in the Dallas area. Hubby and I are planning a trip down to Ideal Hatchery to pick up our chicks this year rather than sending them through the mail. We were wondering if anyone in this area wants us to bring them back chicks? Save your chicks the stress of shipping them. We live on the NE side of 'dallas' ok... wylie not dallas but same diff.

Was thinking if people wanted thier chicks delivered or to pick them up from us here we could do that. ;) Subaru outback can carry a lot of chicks

Just a thought that might save some little peepers on some big stress.

I am about 15 minutes from Wylie. I might be interested in getting a few. When do you plan to go?
