i guess we have done a good job with our mail man!!!! he delivers to our door!!!!
we feed him before the holidaZe!!! DWs a regular betty crocker! and loves to share!

one more hatched a day early!!!
and we lost another ideal chick lastnight!

Mine always seem to hatch a day early and it seems like there is a much higher mortality rate with shipped chicks. I have never gotten any shipped to me but have bought plenty at the feed store. I just bought 7 SLW chicks from the feed store that had freshly arrived from Ideal and 2 have died in 2 days.

Same problem I had with Ideal chicks... between DOA chicks and faders I just wasn't impressed with their birds
I admit I will still pick up one here or there from the feed store.. but I really don't like ordering from them anymore..

I love the birds I have gotten from Cackle .. and I hope the chicks I have ordered from Welp are nice and strong. I've heard good things about them so I guess I will know for sure in May.

**snickers** I could totally see the coop set up like a salon...

I got my chicks from Ideal yesterday morn. (I just had the po call me when the truck arrived and they let me come pick them up before they opened.) I ordered 25, they sent 26 but sadly one was dead when I opened the box and I lost another last night. Two more are really seeming weak so not sure how they'll do. Then there is the demon child... I kept him in solitary all night and thought I'd let him out under supervision this morning. He coexisted peacefully for about 2 minutes and then started strutting around and attacking all the rest so back in his lonesome cell he went.
Last year when I ordered from Ideal I ordered only 7 chicks (4 'lorpes and 3 EEs) and it was June so they only sent the 7, no extras and they were all spritely and healthy, no losses. The smallest one was a bit weak at first but after showing her the water she drank and drank and then was just as lively as the others.
So there aren't always lots of losses in their orders. Maybe it was because the first order was so few? Though I would have thought that would work the opposite.
