Power is out because of a storm :-( incubators covered up... Chicks hatching in one bator. This stinks!
Hi, Welcome to the Texas thread. I'm on the NE side of Houston, not too far from you. What kind of chicks are you getting?Hi there, I am new at raising chickens as an adult. I was a very active FFA member as a child with chickens, pigs, lambs, steers and goats. I will be getting my first 25 little chickies on Wednesday. I am super excited. I am in Dayton, TX right in the middle between Houston and Beaumont! I am very excited and look forward to all of your knowledge. I am looking forward to my little batch of assorted colored eggs!
I have some that look just like him. Must be a Powder baby.
Fingers are crossed for you! Hope the power is back on by now.Power is out because of a storm :-( incubators covered up... Chicks hatching in one bator. This stinks!

Any fellow DFW folks have a good place to buy oyster shell? A couple of the feedstores I have tried haven't had it, and pet stores sell it in tiny bags.
Hope your hatch works out despite Mother Nature. Those storms are moving in on us now, lots of lightening, hail and thunder.

If you have a way to heat water you can put it in a gallon ziplock freezer bag and lay it on top of the bator to keep the temp up!![]()
