I don't mind tho as long as he lets me keep a tom and a hen as a pet for breeding stock for future dinners. I have had bad experience with rabbits and really don't want to get one again. Got him from a traders village and he was M.E.A.N. No matter how much time I spent with him he tried to bite and scratch my feet. He was really handsome tho. Was black and white, had stripes on one side and spots on the other.

That's actually a French Guinea keet

We picked up four of them the other day for my husband...he loves the crazy things.

I've never had a bad experience with rabbits, though my husband's oldest daughter got bit by one when she was a girl....from what I hear tell, though, she deserved it.

BTW - with the exception of our cat and three dogs - all animals on our property are eventually destined for the "freezer camp" as Yinepu calls it...even our breeders will eventually wind up there though they may be years away from it.

this might seem like an odd question but here it is anyway....do you NEED a pond if you want ducks? or are there some more terrestrial breeds? 'scovies can roost in trees from what i read...do they still require a body of water?

From what I understand, Indian Runners don't need water (except to drink, of course).

Some information on Indian Runner Ducks: http://www.burkesbackyard.com.au/factsheets/Birds/Indian-Runner-Duck/982

From what he says, they do need it to bathe...and, I can't imagine a duck without some form of water area...

@Cockle-Dood: I think a kiddie pool would work. I have seen a few people use it, but a large plastic kiddie pool I think would really only be ok for maybe two ducks?

@Kilsharion: I can't stand how guineas look, lol. They just seem so weird to me.

@KnobbyOaks: I hope so, I would really like to be able to talk chicken with some more people. My DH and coworkers do not understand.

Speaking of work, i just had to call in Dx I just pulled my back out of wack and am sick to my stomach on top of it. I am so mad.

I can't stand them, myself. But, my husband is so supportive of my chickens, I couldn't say no when he said he wanted some. **le sigh**

I'm so sorry to hear about your back. Hopefully it will recover quickly.
