the dorkings are a colour project we are working on (crele dorkings) so none of them are for sale.. i only threw in the EE egg since I hate to have chicks hatch out alone..
With the "EE" eggs .. the mom right now is pure ameraucana.. daddy can be anything from polish to dUccle.. to jersey giant, delaware, silkie, freedom ranger, orpington. ameraucana or mutt (did I forget anyone in that coop?)
so i have some eggs from her.. but not all that many at the moment since I have been tossing them to the dogs...

were you wanting eggs or chicks?.. (or THAT particular chick)

yinepu, how hard is it to raise emu?
well.. they eggs take 50 to 60 days (give or take) to hatch..

I have 4 right now that have sounded and should hatch any day

the adult birds get to be 5 to 6 foot tall dinosaurs...

they need room to run (if you have room for a horse you have room for emus)

they do need sturdy fence though.. 5 to 8 foot tall field fence.. no barbed wire or electric

I love mine BUT they are not for everybody

I saw someone today with white and blue emu(might be an ostrich in with normal colored emu hard to tell) and thought they were so cute, but I know they are very large birds, and my fence would not hold them, lol. But if I move I though about having some more exotic looking pets. What type of shelter do you use for them?

saw these pictures and just started laughing...it almost looks like they are smiling!

btw, what do you guys use for nest boxes? I am trying to decide if I want to build my own out of OSB or find something to use as nest boxes. I also found someone selling a 12 hole nest box for 75...

Our coops have built in nest boxes. My husband throws a fit if I mention just piecing something together. Apparently, it's become an heman ego thing with him to create something more than "just a coop"...
