On another note, the coop is finished today aside from needing to get some hay to put in the nest boxes. The nest boxes are on the ground with the bedding piled up around them almost level with the entrances, hope my ladies will end up using them. Didn't get to get my hens today =( On a good note tho, sold my animal trap to a guy having problems with coyotes and if he catches some he told me I could have them to start learning to tan hides! =) I'm excited. I am thinking about decorating skulls too, and maybe making a tooth necklace.

That would be really neat.

If you do let me know I would buy one or two from you. I always like unique things.

I will keep that in mind. We will see if the guy catches any. He said there were like five of them running around in a pack killing small dogs and cats in the neighborhood. Hope he catches them. They were trying to get into his chicken pen. Would you want the pelt, skull, or teeth? Just wondering. I dunno where he is going to shoot them, so I will have to see.

Just a skull if possible. The others my cats would find way too interesting and eat or run off with somewhere in the house.

kind of like that. They found a rabbit pellet I had tanned and took the tail off. I was running around trying to get the tail back while they were handing it off to each other. Silly cats.

that reminds me.. I still have several possums in the freezer along with some rabbit hides I need to get started on when I have a spare minute

Now I dont' feel so weird having a dead chick in a baggy waiting in the refrigerator for hubby to do a necropsy on it.

Well the rain is starting to hit here with thunder, lightening, and wind. My baby chickens and ducklings are going through their first thunderstorm outside tonight. The older hens are right next to them as their coops are adjoined. I just came back inside from tarping up the outside like I do for winter to break some of the wind and side-rain and to help them feel safer than they probably do at the moment. I hope they do alright and don't get to spooked. The radar looks like a doozie coming our way.

I took some updated photos today of the ducklings and my three chicks. All I have to do now is figure out names for the ducklings. They haven't given me any clues yet as to what they want to be called.

The chick in the background of this pic is Dr. Pepper


On left is 1st (This was my first chick to hatch) and on the right is Spicy Tutsie about to flap off.


The three amigos from left to right (Spicy Tutsie, 1st, and Dr. Pepper) hard to imagine they all had the same parents.

Rain came and went thru the nite here! Enough to sog up the ground and irritate the dogs but doesnt seem much more than that!

Sick day is underway! I hope to get some pics of a finished coup today!
