Cream Legbar eggs successfully transferred from Curtis' place to mine. All aircells looked awesome. Weighins done - splitting them between the incubators. Here's hoping for a good hatch!

While I was there, I succumbed to temptation and picked up three of the Euskal Oiloa's he had. So sweet tempered. Mike fell in love with them when he saw them. They are new residents to The Broken Yolk.

Speaking of The Broken Yolk. I tried to post this photo earlier; but, it was being flaky...so, let me try again:

You are right, tho. I was supposed to refrain from any new breeds and only get Dorkings if I wad going to get any new eggs/birds. I need to work on my self control. The cream legbars, tho, are replacements not additions....so I am ok there **grins**

I added up the cost to make a coolerbator..

with using bulbs for heating and a wafer thermostat... 67.93
using a digital thermo and bulbs... 60.86
using the digital and a heat element .. 62.39

I can fit up to 3 levels of eggs (5 dozen per level) (180 eggs total if I triple stack)

but I'm more comfortable using one or two levels just because I'm hand turning.. so that's still a minimum of 60 to 120 eggs per bator

the first one was with the wafer thermostat.. temp stays perfect.. no cold spots

my digital thermos should be here Monday for the bator #2.. and in about another week for bator #3.. the third one will also be using the heating elements opposed to bulbs

once all three are up and running the styro bators will be heading to craigslist or the dump.. lol.. one is brand new.. so it will probably head to craigslist just for fun
I'll be keeping the Reptipros for the extremely hot part of summer since they also cool as well as heat

Wow - great prices! Looks like you're getting quite a bit of bang for your buck. Are you using a basic styrofoam cooler?
