Kilsharion - One more thing to be worried about withthese girls. I honestly used regular cotton fabric that I had used on some girls homemade pillows a while back. I didn't know what to do with the rest of the fabric so that's what I used it on. It's never frayed since I have had it though. But, I'll keep my eye open so that if it starts to I can switch it out. Thanks for the heads up.
On another note, lucky you on your cute Pheasants! What a great surprise!!!!
I ended up giving one of the guys my husband works with three dozen pheasant eggs... (I had been egg bombed with 1 dozen melanistic ringnecks, 1 dozen lady amherst and 1 dozen red gold)
He already has red golds and some sort of morph of ringnecks that I've never seen before that are imports (beautiful birds).. so he was glad to get the new blood and told me that fish and game had required him to get permits on all of his birds
so I called fish and game to double check.. they informed me that ALL pheasants regardless of type (ornamental or ringneck) have to be licensed in the state of Texas.. I just didn't want to deal with the paperwork and "unannounced inspections" so I handed him the box of eggs and told him that the eggs plus lunch were his "pay" for helping my husband do some work around the yard..

I even loaned him an incubator since his was full and have been going over there three times a week to check the eggs.. every darn one is fertile and growing...

(how come I never have THAT kind of luck on shipped rare bird eggs???)
