Hard to imagine, huh? Just hatched 35 and have another 50 or so eggs the broodies are sitting on.

Hey Dennis how are you?  Hope all is well.

I'm doing great besides the :he with my SLWs. Thanks for checking! Right now I have more chicks than I know what to do with. This hatch should put me over the number I need for my Marans dark egg project, so it's only about six months until I begin phase II. I guess the numbers will work out as I've just built four new aviaries and am planning on pullet pens. I've been keeping up with this thread and it sounds like things are well with you.

Still having fertility problems. This last hatch I had 4 of 20 fertile and only one hatched alive. Two others pipped and that was it for them. The last one did nothing. I have two that are broody and sitting on a few eggs. I'm saving every egg and setting every 10th day. Guess I'm going to do this all summer if my fertility doesn't climb.

How many hens are the cocks servicing?

I have one pen with three and the second has two. I've plucked all of them and watched them breed. It looks as though he makes good contact. I haven't been keeping up with the pen number the eggs are coming from until the group that's in the bator now. Hopefully, I will know something on the 16th when I candle. Unfortunately, one girl in each pen is currently sitting eggs. That could skew the result.

Are you saying you trimmed their vents?

Good Morning!

I am looking at the EcoGlow 20 Chick Brooder. Has anyone used these and did you like it? My turkey eggs are due to hatch in another 2 weeks. Thinking this would be the way to go instead of a 250w lightbulb.

Lisa :)
