Thanks everyone! It is my DH first time every doing any building project like that. I think he's done a great job.

So far doing okay (thanks for asking). They're locked inside until Saturday and then we'll open the door and see what happens. Exciting times ;)

I'm assuming that they'll start roosting when they figure out where they want to sit...?
Mark, I hope your chickens like their roost. My girls - only a few seem to want to roost and the rest just lay in the bedding. I do have a few girls who were fighting over the pieces of wood in between the studs on the inside of the coop last night.

Thanks for replying. I thought it was a dumb question but I was reading a post yesterday and someone had something about "training" their chickens to roost. I assumed it came naturally.

Mark don't be afraid to ask questions. A lot of us are newbies. Thank goodness the 'old-timers' put up with us.

Lisa :)

ive got some that roost, i have some that like to sleep on top of the dressers that i use a nest boxes, and i have some that prefer their bedding...this weekend i will be adding some roost space that is a little higher, mainly for the guineas since they like to get up as high as possible.

speaking of the dressers, i think i am going to have to rethink that decision. yesterday i went out to check on things and one of the guineas had fallen between the dresser and the wall between some of the studs...for the second time. i think im just going to pull those out...or use on as storage in the coup and add some shelving for their nest boxes...theres is no telling how long it had been in there. poor guy!
