REd Jungle Fowl. They are very similar to the english game birds, supposed to be the origin of all domestic chickens. Like a wolf is to a dog. These are from a hatchery so im sure they are a good percentage english game, but its still cool to know what they could be

I've heard of the cayenne pepper and the red pepper flakes before but does anyone know why it works? Or what the science behind it is?
No idea why it works, but it does. All I know about it is that red pepper has something in there that does darken feathers (it's used to turn yellow canaries red). Beets and sweet potatoes can have a similar result. Maybe the egg laying is related to carotene, which all those things are rich in?

Give it to them, lots of older poultry books swear by hot peppers to induce laying.
boosts laying too! i was planning on choppin up about an ounce or 2 and feedin it to all my girls! my yokies need it bad! i finally got an egg after almost 2weeks! my games could use it too! i may just shoot em up with some tobasco or valentina sauce!!! 1.5mL each...

So how was everyone's weekend?

We ended up having emu BBQ (sooo delish!) and went to see the movie "now you see me" (great movie btw)

got in the last eggs for this season.. then once they are hatched the last bator gets a break for disinfecting

had a 100% hatch on my yokohama eggs, now waiting on silkies which should hatch later this week

been so darn busy with things around the house and the new puppy that I haven't had a chance to come online much... but at l;east things are getting accomplished!

try to stay cool.. temps are supposed to start rising this week
So how is that new puppy doing? do you have to work with it much and do you have a fence to keep it from running off? We have been thinking about getting one and was just wondering how yours is doing. We don't have a fenced area just non barb wire and I'm not sure if a puppy would stay in or not. We live at the end of the road but some pups like to wonder.
