it will take some time no matter what the age. if the picking on goes on for more than a day then i would think about seperating. i have 4wk olds, with 3 week olds, and 2 weeks olds. they took some getting used to each other in the beginning, but now everyone is happy as can be. the yougest ones look like the little brother and sisters trying to keep up with the scratching of the others, its kinda cute

roos wont begin to attempt to mate till 6+ months old in my experience so your hens can be safe for a while until you can seperate your girls.

I am way behind in reading posts, but here is my two cents. It depends on the rooster/breed. My light brown leghorn began crowing when just four weeks old and trying to mate at 3.5 to 4 mths old. js

For local folks (pick up only): I have a quad of excellent quality SLW that are 3 months old. Three pullets and one cockerel that are excellent in many ways except they have a single comb instead of the rose comb. I am selling them as a group only for $75.00. These birds would benefit a Silver Lace project. All healthy

s. I'm going to try it again in a few. I just did'nt want them to hurt each other. I lost my fist flock of 30 and did not want anything to hurt this group of babies.

A lady drove up several days ago with these 10 chicks, she said a friend of ours told her we might take them off her hands Of course we did. She only had them 3 days, feeding them tamales She got them from a friend that said her hens laid large brown eggs, thats all I know about what they may be. Any guesses as to what breed or crossbreds?

I have 29 baby chicks that are 2 weeks old and 3 that are 6 weeks, I tried to put them all together today and 2 of the 6 weeks old chased and peeked at the 2 week olds. At what age do you suggest me putting them all together?

Somewhere I've read chickens have a "pecking " order that will be established. Even in chicks there is a dominant, probably the first hatched.
