Does anyone use cast iron for cooking?  I bought a dutch oven a few years back, started using it recently.  It is super heavy but I LOVE cooking with it.  So I just bought a 12, 10, 8 & 6.5 inch.  Can't wait to start using them. Hoping to get rid of all my "no stick" pans and just use these.

I love using our flat cast iron pan! We use it to make tortillas and gorditas (and my little sister makes grilled cheese, haha). We used to have more, but they were taken after Grandma died. I wanted to buy a cast iron set a couple years back, but never got around to it.

We have one ceramic coated cast iron pot that is just put aside. For some reason, Mom doesn't use it. I was going to use it this Thanksgiving for a side, though. Not sure what, but something!

I use cast iron for cooking all of the time. I keep a 8", 10" and a comal in my oven and a reversible griddle on my stove at all times.

Season it well. don't use soap until it has a really REALLY black finish like Teflon all over it. I use some soap now, but DO NOT EVER use a wire scrub on it!!

I love my cast iron.

Y'all should see the double brooder DH just built me. It is so awesome! 8 feet long and 2 ft wide, with a removable middle wall. Flip open tops and flip down sides for easy cleaning. So excited, it is so much nicer than our first ones! Yay!
Now you know you can not post that without posting a picture

I love my cast iron, I prefer the old Wagner Ware and Griswold, both are American made but neither company is in business any longer. But you can pick them up at Trades Days or garage sales for fairly cheap. I bought a #10 a few days ago and I need to put it in a fire to "clean" it so that I can re season it to my liking. I use coconut oil to season it. I have used other oils, vegetable and corn oil but I like the season from the coconut oil better. It really soaks into the pan and doesn't get sticky in between uses.

I know but its actually raining (yes the r word haha) and I am not running my butt out to the shop in my drawers to take one. I might wind up with a black eye and skinned knees that way.

I only use cast iron. Everything tastes better that way! Most of mine were my granny's but recently I saved a couple from the thrift store here in town and fixed em up (scrubbed off the rust and cured em again). Good as new. And 5 bucks for one is a great price!!

Love my WagnerWare skillet griddle :love , also have 2 different size WagnerWare skillets. I also use my Le Creuset dutch oven all the time-found it in the attic of our 1938 farm house.
