As for people coming and going, it happens about every 6 months. The group that was regulars when I fist found this thread have been long gone for the most part and other groups have come and gone since. Heck even for me, there would be months at a time that I would not be on the thread, but I always come back to my Texas Peeps,

I do come here for the chicken info but enjoy some of the off topic conversations. Heck, I converted my gasoline generator to propane from an off topic post by lungleexplorer. Thanks jungleexplorer, it works great and was super easy to do. But if you don't get on every day it is hard to read through all of the off topic stuff. I think that MOST of the people that log on to this thread are doing it for chicken related conversation. A lot don't post to the off topic because they aren't in the click, so to speak.
I have had my post deleted for getting off topic (immigration reform...how Texas related is that) and gotten letters from the mods. I appreciate the off topic conversations but think it should be kept a little more chicken related. But on the other hand, it is awesome having one place you can come and talk about anything that's on your mind. just not racial, (guess that was the problem when I bitched about border control) politics or religion. All VERY pertinent to Texas but too personal to get very deep into.
I love the Texas forum, how it was in the past and how it is now. I just have trouble keeping up with all of the off topic conversations. My brain has an old hard drive, less than a gig, something has to be deleted before I can add any new data.

Congrats on the chicks I'm with ya on the conversations we should be able to have on the "Texas" thread There are all kinds of threads on this site that have nothing to do with chickens We should be able to talk about anything we want to related to Texas' problems & Texans

We all originally came to the site for "chicken only" information but the breakaway groups have a much broader range of topics and I appreciate that.  If I want to ask someone specifically about plants and gardening I am happy that there are people on this board and in my area who are gracious with their information.

There are conversations all over this board that are not chicken related.

There is room for everyone.  Take what you find is useful and leave the rest.

I just said the same thing before I saw your post I love hearing anything related to Texas

yep, big rain last night Racheal. It came at about 1am when I was about shutting my eyes, had to get up to close the window. This morning, I went to the soccer field and realized how big it was, the field was filled with so many water spots. I hope it fills the retention pond next to my ranch somewhat. This pond was dry out for sometimes which caused the predators coming.

So about the rain and chickens...I've had my chickens for two weeks and of course no rain in that time. This morning I woke at 6 to the sound of thunder and hard rain. When I went to see what was up with Ethel and Lucy they were at the door begging to be let out. But it was really coming down so i just left them inside their coop. How are they in the rain? When I went back at 7 it was still raining but not so much and I let them out. They acted like they had just been let out of jail!! Would they have been ok in the rain or was I correct in keeping them in?

If they are fully feathered and can still have a place to get out of the rain if they desire, no reason to keep them cooped up. Birds in the wild don't have anyone locking them up when it rains.
