Ok, so here are pics of the Quakers gang in their new home first day.

just hanging in the shade AWAY from the geese!

First goose/duck meeting

Look, catnip isn't just for cats. Ducks like it too!

They discover the pool at last

My last hatch from the bator...their coloring makes me want to keep them all!

They have access, they are choosing not to.... They can come and go as they wish. They do go out off and on but for the last week or so they spend more time inside than out.

Sometimes you have to get them to come out by throwing down scratch and other things to get them to be interested in the outside. If they think inside is more interesting, they will stay inside. There is a reasons why we eat chickens...they aren't always the brightest bulbs in the light fixture and sometimes have to be shown what to do. :)

Tell that to my girls!! If I don't let them out at 8:00 am sharp, they are letting me and the whole world know about it. Beware Tjack, you know not what you are getting into!! LOL

No problem, we are very happy to have them. They are doing great so far. Howard even tried to mate 1 of the girls, but he fell off and she got fed up with his fumbling, lol! They have been renamed, we have Howard the duck, Daisy duck (his favorite), Ebony (formerly Brownie), Ivory (the next biggest crested), and Loudmouth (the smallest crested). Loudmouth is so named because she has taken to screaming at the chickens, geese, and other ducks since she got here. What's even funnier is my husband and youngest son have taken to quacking back at her! Every time it happens I just bust up laughing at how silly they all sound quacking like a duck.

Howard the Duck fits that frisky fowl...If you've seen the movie it makes sense. I love the new names!

So this evening, three of the five chickens were perched up in a tree, and we had to pull 'em down. Time to clip some wings...checking out YouTube tutorials later this evening. Luckily everyone was found and put to bed. Whew!

I put out scratch and meal worms on alternating days. They come out after I have put it down for about 20 min then back in they go. Nothing is inside the coop itself.

I'm a little misty-eyed seeing how well their first day went. I miss them more than my daughter or husband does...but that's just me. Thank you for posting the pics!

We have the movie on DVD. The kids love it!

Wing clipping isn't hard, have your husband help you and cut the long primary flight feathers under the culverts.
