The chickens aren't going to notice if you take a day or two off! ;)

I've found it helps when I have days like that to 'weed out the herd' a little.  Even if it goes no further than making a list, I pick out the ones I'm not extremely attached to, any that aren't looking the way I was hoping, a few that I remind myself we are holding onto until they are big enough to go to freezer camp.  We've decided we aren't keeping any of our ducks.  I'm a little disappointed but they are a lot of work to keep their area clean and I've decided I want to concentrate on chickens.  I have one girl who has horrible manners and jumps on us when we go into the coop with food, she's on 'the list'.  I'm not a huge fan of black bibbed turken, but she's a really good layer, so I've added her to 'the list' too.  We have a bantam red frazzled cochin that is so ugly she's just ugly, she's not even so ugly she's cute, she's on some sort of list but its more of a 'What in the world are we going to do with her, who would buy her' list.

I hear ya about lists. I have a couple lists going for my flock right now, lol. I have a I think your a hen/rooster list. Have 3 beautiful SLW Roos that are on the freezer camp list, (they bully my ladies and I won't tolerate that), their breasts are getting yummy looking! A RIR Roo who bites the hand that feeds him too many times is also on my freezer camp list, lol. I also have a couple goose lists, again goose/gander lists and who hangs with who. Trying to keep track of their natural pairings for breeding season next year. And the ducks seem to have divided into 2 groups. They have a layers only club, so I have Ebony and Daisy always together, and fumbling Howard with Ivory and Loudmouth. Without lists I would have be lost.

I'm almost embarrassed for her...

I have no lists. With only 5 ladies, there isn't much to make notes on. Goldie, our rumpless EE, is my daughter's favorite. Fred, our White Leghorn, is my husband's favorite...and Olive, our largest/darkest EE, is my favorite. Poor Red & Shed get lost in the shuffle, but that doesn't mean they aren't loved...We spoil them all equally.

I only have one that I would put on a list...if I had enough to need list. Lol
I only have 7, and one's a roo so he has to go anyway. But he's a Silkie..not enough of a bird to do anything with...lol
He's not crowing yet though, at 12 weeks, so he has a little longer.
Maybe he's just a really masculine female?

He has a comb and dangly waddles where my white silkie has zip

The fun never stops at my place. My neighbor had a RIR rooster that was going to freezer camp last night. Well the rooster escaped, had a fight or 2 with my neighbor's game cock and lost and is now at large. I have to go check to make sure he isn't on my property. If he gets a hold of my cockerels he will kill them. This RIR Roo is very aggressive, all he wants to do is fight. Ugh. Keep your fingers crossed tha he is not at my place. I don't want to catch a mean Roo today.

I am wondering how many eggs my jersey hen can set on... I have 12 bantam eggs being shipped to me, and I want to go and pick up six regular sized eggs that are leghorns, amerucanas, and turkens. Does anyone think that 18 egg will be to many for my girl? I figure some of my shipped eggs will be damaged when I get them and I plan to toss them out possibly...

Just not feeling it today. I have so much to do and just don't feel like doing anything. I am building a pen for the EE. Still need to build list is 3 small coops, 1 pen for the small coops ( not the one I am working on ) and 1 larger pen for the big coop. That is just to get up to take care of the birds I already have.

this is the pen I am working on. The pen is really 2 pens. It will be invited where the 2x6 is running in the middle. The small coop will have one more on the left side to go with the pen.

Looks like you have your hands full, my friend! Take your time and don't let it stress you out. If you need to take a day off to regroup, do it!
