Anyone here do fermented feed? Need some advice.

Also need help dealing with my lunatic ducks, again. I baited a nest box for Ebony, to see if she would go broody. Well she laid elsewhere today and didn't see the nest I made her. Daisy laid her egg in there but left. A few minutes ago I heard a commotion from the nest box. It was Ivory and Loudmouth fighting over the nest! Neither of those 2 ladies has laid a single egg yet!!! Why are they fighting over the nest if they haven't reached point of lay yet? The seem to have settled their dispute, Ivory is covering the eggs with Loudmouth right next to her and Howard is right outside the nest box guarding them both! :barnie
Please help, the idea was to get Ebony broody so she could raise a couple black duckling companions, not for the certifiable white ducks to do it!

One of my Roos. I maybe keeping him.
Handsome! What is he?

Anyone raise toulouse geese, embden geese, royal palm turkeys, standard bronze turkeys, welsh harlequin ducks, mallard ducks, or muscovy ducks? I am planning ahead and trying to figure out how to set up breeding pens. I want to breed these guys later in life, but I am not sure how many ducks per drake, geese per gander, and hens per tom. With my chicken breeding pens I plan to have 1 rooster per 5 hens, but room for more. I plan on saving up to make a 100x30 building with 20 10x10 coops, and then each coop has a 10x40 run attached. Does this seem adequate? Mind you this is way, way, way in the future. Also what are some good feed recommendations for turkeys, ducks, and geese? Are there diets premade for them that are adequate, or is it simply game bird feed? Thanks much ahead of time!
@LightningTFarm raises Welsh Harlequins I believe. And some Toulouse geese I think...

Who was it that posted a "how to" on how they made their pvc chicken waterer attached to a rain barrel awhile back? I'd like to go back and look at that because I want to do something similar but don't want to skim through a couple thousand posts lol
Yeah it was Clovis

Tomorrow I will be calling a feed store that does special orders. They are where I got my sexed African geese at. I am going to see if I can special order some sexed Cayuga ducklings for Ebony! It will be much better than having to order 10 ducklings from a hatchery or paying for 10 ducklings and getting 2/3. I just hope that the feed stores supplier does Cayugas.

Ebony will love being a mommy.

If there's one thing you can count on, with the Quackers, is unpredictability!

Good luck getting Ebony broody...I'm sure she'd do very well with little ones to care for.

Good day all....
Got rain on the radar but is north of me...sure could use some for the garden. Better chance tomorrow just don't need a torrent that floods everything.
Youngsters are slowly getting use to mingling with the big birds. They stay together so safety in numbers. They found their own area at the back of the yard by an old stump and gather there.

I guess I got some pretty smart chickens. The big tree that shades their yard is a mulberry and it's loaded with fruit. Some of them can jump and reach a few berries. What they wait for is the squirrels to come. When the squirrels jump from limb to limb they knock the berries down and it's a free for all. Now when the squirrels show up the chickens gather under the limb and wait for the bounty to fall. There'll be berries for a few more days for them to enjoy....sure does make for some freaking looking purple poop though!

I was looking for Clovisman's "chicken stick" last night also. Wasn't he on vacation in Mexico? I thought I saw him on the member roster last night, but I don't think he "spoke".

DH built 5 new nest boxes for the girls yesterday. they didn't like the old ones. Would only lay in three so the eggs piled up. Gonna put ceramic eggs in the new boxes, hope that helps them spread the wealth.
Got some bananas yesterday so gonna make a plate of treats.
Have a great day y'all

I put a couple of small mirrors in the chicken yard this morning. No one has seemed to notice them yet...but I can't wait to see how The Ladies react to their own reflections. I heard chickens LOVE mirrors!

Also, slowly decorating the coop. I really want to paint it, but until then I can decorate it with my eclectic collection of garden art.

ALSO, our compost is turning into soil so freaking fast! Looking forward to adding some to the garden & some potted plants soon!

Didn't know about the mirrors for chickens...cool idea. My parrot use to "court" her reflection. I wonder how my roo would react???
