Texas

Ohhhh! I know who I am sending my first pm to next spring. :lau What colors do you have? do you sell sexed or straight runs? and of coarse, what do you charge for them? :drool

Most of mine are black. I get blues and whites. I sell them sexed, but I can't make guarantees vecause I'm just learning to sex. I sell on light chicks for $3, $5 for 5 week olds, and add a $1 for each week after. (Although I usually end up selling them all for $3 because I get tired of them lol)

Nice, I will be seeing you next spring for some chicks, lol.

Despite having free range of approximately 400sq/ft of yard, The Ladies have recently resorted to begging for access to the whole back yard. Since they began begging for some freedom, I've let them run amok in the main yard at least once a day...supervised, so as to keep my veggie garden safe from those pesky peckers.

I guess the bugs are always tastier on the other side of the fence.

PS: Fred's (White Leghorn) comb is growing by the day. It seems like only a week ago it was just a bit wiggly, and now it folds over. I'll try to get some pics. And Red's (Red Sex-Link) comb is coming in nicely, too...no wiggle, yet...but it has a distinct shape. My EE's, Shed, Goldie & Olive, still only have small pink lumps above their beaks. But all of 'em are getting so big, especially my EE's.

:welcome from San Antonio.
That's a nice collection of critters. How do you manage the feral cat colony? A ton of cats have been dumped in my neighborhood. I adopted 2 females and their female kittens to keep them from reproducing. Finally had them all spayed. Now I am trapping and releasing the rest of the cats. Got 3 tomcats so far and I know of at least 5 more cats that need spay/neuter. I started doing this because I got sick of finding dead/dying kittens and cats. But now apparently I find myself with a cat colony because I seem to be feeding the whole population. Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated.

What surprised me most was that most of these cats completely ignore my chickenS, ducks, and geese, even the 6 week old pullets. Only 1 even tried to break into the chicken coop and he was relocated to a farm several miles away that needed a large aggressive tomcat on patrol. The lady says not only has her rat problem gone down, but she has started finding dead baby raccoons since he got there. If I find any more like him, she wants them too. Lol. Found a way to put his meanness to use instead of killing him, which is great.

I don't have a problem with snakes, mice or rats. And even though I see the occasional dead skunk/possum/coon a mile up the road, we have never seen them here. I think the feral cats and stray dogs have something to do with that. We can hear coyotes at night, but none have been sighted in the neighborhood in over 20 years according to neighbors.

I am working with a cat rescue group. It only costs me $20 a cat for spay/neuter and shots. If I get kittens I foster them and socialize them and send them to the rescue for re-homing. I have been told my kittens turn out great, because I have 4 indoor cats and 6 large breed dogs as well as 2 rambunctious boys. The kittens are exposed to everything and end up being easy to place because of how calm they are. But the parent cats often can't be re-homed, they have been wild too long. So for them it's get them fixed, feed them, and look out for them.

Where do you get cats spayed/neutered for that price??? It costs me $100 every female and $80 for males plus a rabies shot.
