well my chicks are being very difficult with getting them off the heat lamp despite it being in the 90ies everyday this week when i leave the light off during the day they won't stop "panic" peeping which is weird because when i did this every spring with my grams chicks other then one or two they didn't really care.

I'm very confused.

I would do rabbits for meat in a heart beat. But I have no place to put all the hutches I would need to build. But rabbit is so yummy, maybe that will be something I look into for next year, lol. My husband is going to kill me. I was thinking of aqua phonics for fish and better gardening next year and now rabbits too!

I dabble with aquaponics on a very smale scale. May ramp it up and go with an IBC system next year. My wife also wants to kill me at times. 1st chickens, blue gill fish and red worms, now I'm talking rabbits and honey bees lol

I think we need to join forces! We can help each other convince our spouses why these ideas are good, lol.

How is the aqua phonics working for you? I was thinking of using talipia fish in mine, if I tried it.

"By Our Powers Combined!" (I'm an 80s baby so it made me think of Captain Planet lol) My system is going well. It's based off of "shelfponics" which is small scale and simplified, and I use it for herbs and salad greens. I use Bluegill that I caught in a minnow trap when they were spawning earlier in the year. Currently, they are in an aqarium but will be moving to a larger tank soon because they are growing fast. I started with about 15-16 (remember I start small) but had a few losses in the beginning. There's probably 9 or 10 now. Eventually I'd like to build a large system w? tilapia but didnt want to make the investment just yet. Easier/Free to just trap local fish when they are fry. lol

Lol, 80s huh, i remember the big poofy hair and men wearing make up. :gig
I really want to try aquaponics, my family loves talipia and I love fresh veggies. But the cost is high. I might have to pick your brain for ideas and suggestions, lol.

When I say 80s baby, I'm being literal. I was born Nov.79. Luckily, I missed out on a lot of the weirdness because I was too busy watching cartoons and playing outside haha

Does anyone in ir near San Antonio know where to get wood shavings in bulk? I've hear of some mills selling it but I don't know which ones in town that do so.
