Texas

Welcome!
I went to Bear Branch Elementary for a bit
My grandparents still live there.

I have some Australorps coming too at the end of August :)

I am so excited for you! From everything I've read, they're great feather babies. :) I'm really looking forward to getting the coop up, so we can order them (one thing at a time)...

We actually managed to get one post in cement before this massive storm came. We will persevere!

Thank you. Sorry th vid didn't come thru. I will try to figure it out. Sorry you are not feeling well, get well!!
Happy belated Birthday! Sorry you were sick on your birthday. :(

An idea worth the try....We been spraying the chicken house roof with the hose every afternoon...it really makes a difference for awhile. Then we dump and flush their kiddie pool. they love to walk in the muddy water and peck for stuff but that;s the extend of them actually getting wet. When I tried misting them they just ran, but they seem to like the damp ground. I agree the heat is worse than the cold. Only three big and two bantam eggs today. , oh and one fairy egg under the big hens' roost.
I spray the coop floor to help cool it off some. Also helps with the deep litter. I got a box fan and run it for my chickens. They really like it! They all line up in front of the fan and let it blow on them. I run it during the day when the temps are supposed to get in the mid to upper 90's. It's just so hot when there is no breeze blowing.

The big, little town of Magnolia, Texas.

Hubby and I are constructing the coop and we've got some baby Australorps coming. :)

Welcome to the chicken world! I have 3 Aussies, and I really like them.

Keller Texas here. We've live in MANY towns in Texas because DH's work (currently Keller

). We both grew up in Livingston but still call Cedar Park/Austin home.

I found BYC when searching for info on how to care for my little duckling and amazed at the amount of info here. One of the biggies I've learned is he needs a duck-mate to pal around with. I am having a heck of a time finding 2 wk old ducklings here in the DFW area.

Adams Feed in Arlington has a ton of ducklings, probably about 4 weeks if I had to guess, but that should be close enough. They almost always have chicks and ducklings. I've had good luck with animals from there!

Yep, I didn't originally intend to order them, just because I didn't think they were available. I have 2 of each coming : Easter Eggers, Salmon Faverolles, Russian Orloffs, and then the Australorps I had to snatch up!
They're my birthday gift to me ;) lol

I'm slowly but surely working on my duck house. Man this is a lot of work and each tool I put down the kids run off with. Today was finally cool enough to step outside for a while. Tomorrow I should be able to work on it too. I hate how hard I is to make straight cuts with a circular saw! I want a table saw soooo bad but the hubby isn't on board with it.
