Has anyone ever had a chicken that sneezes, but has like no other bad symptoms? My little sex link is sneezing, but she eats fine, walks fine, drinks, and is as lively as can be, but she's been sneezing for a couple of days now. No other chicken is doing this, just her. Is it the weather or something?

I have a buff brahma hen who does this. She has sneezed almost since I got her a year ago. I can guarantee she sneezes every day, but no other symptoms and she lays eggs, and gets around fine, and no one else sneezes. She makes her loud little squeaky sneeze then carries on.

I have a sneezer but she only does it following her dust bath. I think she gets the dust or DE or sulfur in her nose. After a few sneezes she is fine. IDK do chickens have allergies?

All are loving this cooler weather. We are able to work outside. Cats and dogs are frisky! Chickens not panting their heads off. Everyone was outside in the yard yesterday instead of hogging the fans in the chicken house. Best of all...egg count is up!!! Got 8 yesterday instead of just 4 or 5. WooHoo!

Now I just have to figure how who is laying...I'm getting smaller white or brown eggs. I'm hoping my SLW, brown leghorn or Maran is laying finally. We have some more PR mix that are coming up but they were hatched May 2nd so probably not them yet. Someone here had said paint their vent area with food coloring,,,might need to do that just to solve the mystery!

I have a couple of sneezy chickens, various breeds, with no other symptoms. I chalked it up to allergies, or weather changes (we just had a cold front drop us 40-degrees in 24hrs). I give them ACV in their water & Oxytetracycline in their water (separate containers) and keep an eye on them. Not sure if there is anything else I could/should be doing.

Hello, I recently joined.
I live about 1-1/2 hours southwest of San Antonioin the heart of the Texas oil boom, Carrizo Springs.
Anyone else on here close to Carrizo?
My three boys (12, 8, & 5) built a coop this summer and have acquired a few chickens who we have really enjoyed.
My boys were skeptical about them when we were building the coop and now they are really attached to them, it is great to see them excited about it!

Okay chicken pros... I have a 1yr old SLW that I recently acquired (along with another and 2 EEs). Just after taking posession of them, I noticed one has no feathers around her vent area (I assumed she was finishing up a molt because she doesn't lay & the other SLW started molting just after getting her) and she keeps a nasty bottom. She's had loose bowel movements for a month now but there are no other negative symptoms. She eats/drinks fine, is perky and feisty & her comb looks healthy... No signs of worms in stool... None of the other three I got with her are showing any negative effects... Theories? Advice?

She didn't make it =(
I'm so sorry!!!!

I'm sorry for your hen. That's great that you can figure out what went wrong.

It is so nice for everyone to get out and really run around! I wish it was like this most of the year.

It's nice how that happens..the chickens bringing the family into it..I do all the caregiving, but my husband hunts grasshoppers out of the garden for them and both my teenage sons carry them around!
