We live in Cameron and have 26 EasterEggers, 3 turkeys, 16 ducks, 1 goose, and 6 sheep. Plus hunting dogs. My husband and I are looking into getting a protector for our sheep/birds and are debating between getting Emus or an Akbash puppy (like a great pyrenees but with short hair). We want them to protect our sheep/birds and was wondering which would be best. if you add to your flock (birds/sheep) will the dogs/emu accept that? We have no clue where to start! If we move the sheep to a different pasture away from the birds and put the protectors with them, will they kill our birds when they come back?

Hi, I'm in Cut'N'Shoot, near Conroe, north of the big city of Houston. I have lots of brown egg layers and a couple of new fancy and feather footed birds. I am looking to expand and sell eggs in my area soon. Does anyone know if they have set a date for the trade day at Montgomery County Fairgrounds hear in Conroe? Looking forward to visiting with lots of Texas chicken parents.

I've got ducks too, three white (one with a tuft top), a pair of mallards, about 4 runner ducks (just lost the only female to dogs), and about 30 eggs in the incubator of different breeds, mostly peekin (not sure on the spelling). I love haveing them in the yard, my husband says he likes them more than the chickens. LOL, I love them all and would have as many as I could if the neighbors didn't complain.

We're only about 2 hours north of Conroe. We really want to go to the trade days and see about getting a splash EE/Amercauna roo. how do I find out about the shows in College Station? I live near there and didn't know!

Anyone have baby chicks, ducklings, goslings, or other baby animals that they would be willing to let me photograph? I'm an amatuer photographer and I would love to be able to get some "baby" pictures. The pictures would be for personal use and one would be used by my mother for her Easter marketing in California.

I live near the Woodlands, but can travel all over Houston to take pictures. Unfortunately, I am not in a place where I can have any fowl yet, so I'm hoping one of you might have some babies I can take pictures of.

Please give me a call or email me if you are interested.

I have some older babies, just getting feathers but will have new babies in the next week or so, these will be chicks at first but soon will have baby ducks too. I am near Conroe and am home on Monday, Wed, Friday and the weekends for the most part. Let me know if your interested and I can let you know when the babies come.

thought I would not be back here...

dh decided that having chickens was a bit much and he can walk a block to the store for eggs and easy meat.

he has since changed his mind and I can get my birds! he still wants nothing to do with them...so we will keep to layers for now.

if I can find someone to doing the killing for me locally I will go for meat birds. found one processor (not speaking English) and they want "$8 a chicken to kill the chickens all night" not sure what that means....kinda scary...seems kinda pricey too.

hoping someone here is local enough to see their birds.

DFW area or Waco area

friend has a bird that I like, she got it from a friend, pretty thing, it is a barred crossed with something red, lays small eggs. she also has barred hens and a lame roo thanks to their bird hound
