Texas

I moved to Texas 13 years ago (San Antonio area), from Atlanta. All family is back in Atlanta, back 4 generations. No family here. Nonetheless...

I ADORE it here. Hard to put it into words. You really can find just about any climate/geography in Texas. And everyone is friendly and also, in my experience, much less likely to get in your business and want to tell you how to live your life, compared to the east coast. No, it's not perfect - nowhere is. But I'm very happy here.

Oh, and Texas is big.

I was born and raised in San Antonio, with family in Cibolo. Not much I can add to the information already given except that I've noticed that cost of living isn't too bad if you're coming from places like California and New York. I've had folks move in from San Fransisco who are AMAZED by how cheap housing and food and stuff is. And of course, no income taxes. Living now in Belgium (VERY far removed from Texas) I can say that the husband and I are definitely moving back home when we retire (if not earlier).

Hi there! It was suggested to be to post here. We have our five month old Speckled Sussex rooster for sale. We ended up with more boys than egg layers and can't keep him. He is really personable and will follow you all around the yard. Fed only organic, soy-free feed. Austin, TX. $20

Beautiful, but I can't have roosters. I would try one if I could. I have only had hens.

He looks like he would be a nice addition to someone wanting to raise Speckled Sussex. You might advertise him also in the buy/sell/trade section of the forums. Considering the popularity of the breed someone might be looking for a rooster to fertilize their eggs. I hear very nice things about the Sussex breeds. I am looking to start up a Coronation flock soon.
