Texas

First little peeper popped out the egg today. Removed the egg shell as it was no longer attached, so it didn't glue itself to his/her fellow hatchlings that are pipping.

Dallas here!! We have 4 hens right now that adore their 2.5yr old keeper. Would love to meet others in city limits with chickens!

HI Whitney
what types of breeds do you currently have?

I bought 2 each: silver laced wyandottes, ameraucana (maybe EEs), and white leghorns from a local couple and I hatched a barnyard mix from my sister's farm in Abernathy, TX. I'm also hatching some barnyard mix I bought online just to see if I can. ;)

Well, the hatch went well. The double yoker didn't make it though. There was an unfertilized yoke on top of the chicken fetus, that didn't allow one viable one to grow much past an eyeball and a small body without appendages.

I always wondered if a double yolker could hatch. Have you heard of it happening? I know the egg is bigger, but probably not big enough for them both to develop, right?
