Texas

I just came back from the grocery store - got a bunch of cheap plastic round containers about 1-1/4 qt each. I'm going to start with just freezing a little BOSS in there with the water, but will also try other stuff as well. Got enough to cycle them through one day to the next. :thumbsup

Meanwhile, they're pretty good at figuring out how to beat the heat themselves as well. It's a good thing I know they're dust bating, not having group seizures... :lau

LOL! Our world revolves around the weather forecast and when we can mow. We got two inches Friday night into Saturday in Blue Ridge. Soaked my quail feeder in the aviary. I'll need to figure out something so I don't waste food every time it rains!

I had little lakes forming in front of the workshop and barn area. My flock didn't care. After the worse of the storm, my flock was out wading and eating.

We have lived here almost 7 years. We are now having to deal with grackles. They cleaned out my fig tree. They are running off my songbirds and terrorizing my cat. Joey (cat) could deal with the mockingbirds, but these grackles are ruthless! Any ideas on how to get rid of them?

pellet gun? really the only way is to make them uncomfortable and choose to go loiter somewhere else. We have a few crows but not a large grackle population. I did go out to check on my quail and heard a hawk in the tree over their pen. It flew off as I walked out. He is going to have to be pretty persistent and creative to get to my quail!
