Texas

I see them fly over. (I would love to be able to glide like that) The only time they hunt around here (thank goodness for little favors), is when they see a mouse or rat in the field OR they will scavenge with the turkey vultures.

IMG_9282.JPG IMG_9287.JPG IMG_9296.JPG IMG_9303.JPG I got my chicks from Ideal yesterday morning. All 25 doing well and exactly what I ordered. Gotta love overnight delivery, being local(ish) has big advantages! Just a couple of pics of my layer pullet chicks.

Hi there folks! I'm happy to see more north Texans too!

Hi y'all! I live outside of New Braunfels and we are new to chickens, but learning rapidly. :)
I don't know how many of you have been following the "Big News in Texas" thread about the bill to allow the right to raise Backyard Chickens but it is turning into quite a battle. It appears now that even if it makes it to the Special Session and gets passed it is worded so that it will not include HOA's. :(
I wanted to do a poll here and apparently I am not big enough yet, but what I wanted to see if I could find out how many folks from Texas are on BYC. (I saw another thread from quite awhile ago that I think said something like 479) What I wish I could find out is how many live in a city and does said city allow BYC's? Or do you live in an HOA and if so does it allow BYC's?
My reasoning for this is that it appears to me that this bill SB 1620 is kind of a mute point in that it is serving only a few in that many towns in Texas allow chickens and most counties do not have any regulations.
If you would like to chime in and tell me your status, in kind of a mini poll (or maybe this should be a separate thread?) please do. We need all the ammunition we can get.

You would need to start a new thread in order to "add" a poll.

It has been an ongoing issue. March of the Old Poodle Ladies that lead HOA to their representatives in their Lexus sedans vs those of us who get dirty and handle live stock. We all know who they will listen too. This is why traditional ranching/farming is disappearing to encroaching cities into counties leading to 'industrial farming/ranching' Yet, though I am an avid believer in the Bill of Rights, as of 9/01/2017 you can own a shockwave shotgun ruled as an AOW by the State of Texas until that date.

Having worked within the machinations of Government for almost 19 years, I have learned She is a schizophrenic master.
