Your opinions. My runs are welded wire dog kennels. I was going to put 2 feet of hardware cloth around the bottom and on indie and 4 feet of poultry wire above it to the top. I wanted to keep the hens from poking their heads out and birds from flying in. Haven’t seen any birds in yet. Top is covered in R panel and secured to top of run. 2 ft of chain link on ground around run. Do you think something like Birdblock would work as well to keep heads in and birds out. Not too worried about coons teaching in or tearing wire. I want to keep heads in as my Australian Shepherd might grab one if it were to poke out.
My run is similar. I wrapped it in 5' of being that was on clearance last fall at TSC. I think it was marketed as deer being but it's 1" holes so works for birds as well. Then on the bottom I have a 18" skirt or chicken wire, and 2' of half inch hardwire to keep chicks and deep litter in and snakes and raccoon hands out. The top is 2" extra heavy duty netting. Other than hawks, snakes were my biggest issue last year so I've been hatching in the "winter" while the snakes are sleeping and that's working well. Another hen went broody the other day and I'll let her hatch some but I do worry that the snakes will be out and about by the time they hatch.
