So I have a real chicken question now:
I have two gals who have repeatedly gone broody. When I get my clutch of silkie eggs should I just pull them off the roost in the evening and lock them in the dog kennel which happens to be everyones favorite laying spot overnight with the eggs? That is what the wife and I are thinking is the best way to get one of the two back into broodiness.

Currently we have them broken from brooding and they are free ranging with the rest of the flock, but not laying. Also they love scorpions(big plus there) when we find them.
Not sure you can make a hen go broody. Hormones and all that nature stuff. "they gotta be in the mood"
In my research, please prove me wrong, you wait for signs of broodiness, then shove eggs under them.
I'm not-so-patiently waiting for a broody. Mine from last year passed last week. See if the Easter Eggers are of that tendency. If not, incubator time. Chicken Rancher has offered mixed Barnyard surprise eggs.

Tacos for lunch, it is! Thanks for the help.

My recipe is kinda like Kiki's but I use either stew meat, or shoulder chuck, cut it up into 1/2" squares. Saute onions, and brown the meat in lard. I cheat with a can of stewed tomatoes (Del Monte Mexican recipe stewed tomatoes) 1tbsp of Oregano, 1 small can of tomatoe sauce and enough water or chicken broth to cover everything. Add everything, bring to a boil, reduce heat and let cook for 2 or 3 hours or until the meat is tender.
