Texas

Corn in the husk is 5/$1 and large cucumbers 3/$1 so you know what treats our chicken are getting. Wife had a surprise today as one of the SilkieXCochin crosses jumped up on her arm for some more personal service! We usually don't strive for chicken on people but this one was cute and wouldn't leave until well after the treats were finished. Even though this one turned out to be a hen it was named as a youngin after our son in law.

Woohooo, finally getting some nice slow rain from this disturbance in the Gulf. I spent 4-5 hours mowing yesterday in preparation for it. I had been leaving incredibly tall stands of grass alone for the last 3-4 months so I would still have grass for forage for the free rangers and hopefully some insects for them too, also so it wouldn't burn away during the drought. We are projected to get 2-4 inches of rain from this system. Original information source : https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php?basin=atlc&fdays=2

Late edit-It wasn't even a depression when I first started writing this, then it became Seven during, now it has a name Fernand, hope this storm doesn't keep growing that fast for the folks to our south in Mexico's sake.

Wanted to use an old feed pan that I had out in the yard. Did the Texas flip on it......and pretty sure this is what I think it is. I left the pan alone except I got a can of Raid out and applied it to the critter and the egg sac. I can wait on using this old feed pan a while, but just checked(Later edit) and the bug spray did its job on this Widow.

I expected a pic of ants! I opened a tsc box last year and it had a black widow in it. We run across them occasionally here, but we have those vicious ants every day.

Yeah I am thinking of buying a bag of amdro to spot treat some problem areas for ants. It seems they have moved into our garden beds and we have yet to bring in a single veggie crop this year. We are going to keep trying planted spinach yesterday to take advantage of the 4+ inches of rain Fernand has already dropped on us.

Is anyone in planning on attending this as a vendor/breeder or guest?

There will be one in Gilmer, TX on 9/28/2019 and another in Paris, TX on 10/12/2019. Gail is the vendor liaison and who should be contacted if you want to sell there. Her contact info can be found here:

I'm not going to be selling there, but I might go just to check it out. I didn't know if anyone else was planning on going. :)

and pretty sure this is what I think it is.

I found one behind the nest box in the chicken house the other afternoon. Blegh...

It seems Amdro isn't approved for this purpose and I do not have any mounds they are all dug in. here seemes a good place to start: https://www.nola.com/entertainment_...cle_e5d4c646-5e8c-5093-baea-8796c1a8e90e.html

I'll start this one.
//I am in San Marcos, between Austin and San Antonio.//

I'm also in this area- outside of Wimberley.
I am starting up my flock again after getting hit by daylight fox raid. My girls were dust bathing when the cads attacked them.
I have a Sizzle rooster who was given to me who is VERY VERY lonely.
I'm in search of silkie hens or cochin hens or americuana to keep him company.
No chicks. He's a year old.
