Texas

I’ve had my chicks for the past week, but I’ve just been keeping an eye on them. But come 12, usually ive been turning off my heat lamp. And them back on at 11-1 before I go to bed.
I have 7 blue sumatra chicks. I just close the AC vent down in their room and open the window for heat plus give em a heat pad under a pan with some hay in it. They have made it to 1 week now just fine. Those 250w heat lamps are just not made for Texas.

Regarding flies there are some natural organic controls. I don't know if I bookmarked them but will look into my browser history and see if I can point you into the right direction. I am assuming you are talking about those green sheen looking flies right?

Late edit I didn't find it in my history or bookmarks as coop flies have not been a big issue for me. HOWEVER, if you do some searching on BYC you will get the same result I did long ago.

I found some stuff to spray that is supposed to handle them and is safe for the chickens and helps control lots of stuff. I have traps out now but OMG I never seen so many. It's NUTS.

If anyone in the Houston area (I’m on the nw side) wants a bantam rooster, my friend dropped one off at my house because he couldn’t have it in his neighborhood. It’s one of the feather footed breeds. I’d keep him, but I’m thinking my blue copper Marans won’t think that’s a good idea once the bantam starts to crow. PM me if you’re interested.

I did do the Jeep Corporate complaint. The only reason I took in my Wrangler is it is a manual and wouldn't stay in reverse you had to man handle that gear to keep it there. Well they kinda fixed it but not really because you have to man handle it into gear now and get the "clunk" but it will then stay in gear. In the process of fixing it they also returned it to me with every gear shift lever disassembled. Later when my wife needed 4x4 in a super bad rain storm and was aquaplaning we discovered they hadn't reconnected the linkage for the transfer case to switch between 4x2-4x4H-4x4L. So back it went they reconeccted the linkage but I never left the lot as I tested it and discovered it would go to 4x4H but not 4x4L. This saga started in March 2020, and is still ongoing.

I am now betting the hill assist(brakes hold until you accelerate so it doesn't roll backwards) thing is broken now once I get it back supposedly today at noon. NM I texted the service manager and told him that feature better be tested before I pick it up. I really hate driving in Brownsville people there are incapable of reading the speed limit signs and for me it it so frustrating to drive 35 in a 50.
(Giggles) I have some gearheaded trivia for ya. The "hill assist" likely a reverse engineering or blatantly stolen idea that Subaru had patented back in the late 70's iirc as all my subies (with manuals) had the "Hill holder" clutch connected proportioning valve. In fact I kept one off the 1st subie I hand to scrap out.

With break and clutch pushed in at same or near same time the valve would lock closed one front and one rear wheels brake. As the clutch was released (adjustable cables on both side of the valve) the valve would smoothly release and the fluid would flow back to reservoir and that was such a wonderful treat to have.

Again bummer on stealerships failures.

I'll start this one.

I am in San Marcos, between Austin and San Antonio.

FYI
I have been keeping a spread sheet of Texas BYC members for several years. Right now it has 274 members on it. Of course some are no longer members or might have visited only a few times.

Texas, we are strong !
Hey not far from me I'm from Cuero which is between San Antonio and Victoria

Finally the Wrangler is fixed and home without 3 additional things the dealership broke. Hill assist, 4x4h and 4x4L all work. Yes I looked special testing it all out on their lot, especially putting in the 4x4L in first gear.

I have now entrusted the Renegade to them as most of the 80% Fiat manufactured parts are failing at the 7k mile mark. In German we have an expression for FIAT, "Fehler In Allen Teilen". Or Mistakes in every part. Kinda like our Found on road dead from the 1980-90's. So they have 3 faults to fix under warranty on that vehicle so that probably means I will get it back with at least 9 new issues.

Cool @007Sean must be close for you in Seguin. I would love to be able to eyeball his pheasants. I cannot as that would give me $&(#@ envy. I just googled it and you are an hour out from his place. That is right neighborly in this state.
