Texas

I am so sorry to hear about your neighbor/wild dog issues. Fowl are treated as livestock and not to be harassed. Vernon's Texas Health and Safety Code chapters 820-828 or so should cover everything you need to know. Just give it a read over if you do not know it by heart. The law states you can take the matter into your own hands and no statute of limitations is covered.

It is one of the reasons I am now own coyote snares. Little s#$t of a neighbor dog finally stopped undermining my fence though, but there will be another there always is for me. Once they meet the legal definition of a coyote well they seal their fate in the legal system here in Texas. We are not willing to keep our pack outside 24 hours a day as they are pets or we wouldn't have this issue.

I know. I picked up some coyote snares. Been reading the laws on trapping, using snares etc...
My bird died. Since, I took picture 45 min ago, just checked on her. She's dead.

Edit: I also picked up some peanut butter rat poison, for my rodent problem.
No hunting license is required in Texas to trap a coyote is what my research says. I'm pretty sure Vernon's states the same. Also it states dog's who harass livestock/fowl are coyote's. Texas law trumps other peoples sensibilities.

Ok I looked up Vernon's THSC what I was discussing is in chapter 822 found here: https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/?link=HS
Sec.A822.013.AADOGS OR COYOTES THAT ATTACK ANIMALS. (a) A dog or coyote that is attacking, is about to attack, or has recently attacked livestock, domestic animals, or fowls may be killed by: (1)AAany person witnessing the attack; or (2)AAthe attacked animal ’s owner or a person acting on behalf of the owner if the owner or person has knowledge of the attack.

(e)AAA person is not required to acquire a hunting license under Section 42.002, Parks and Wildlife Code, to kill a dog or coyote under this section. Added by Acts 1989, 71st Leg., ch. 678, Sec. 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1989. Renumbered from Health & Safety Code Sec. 822.033 and amended by Acts 2003, 78th Leg., ch. 1002, Sec. 1, eff. Sept. 1, 2003.

Sorry to go on about it but in my neck of TX people think it is ok to let their dogs run at large and without vet care and parasite laden. Every single rescue DW and I have taken on is absolutely infested according to the fecal float tests or whatever our vet uses to determine it. Color me silly but I don't want coccidiosis on the property.

Be careful what you say

I posted on byc after my coop was damaged and birds killed. I got roasted pretty good about threatening to shoot a "poor mother dog-just trying to feed herself and leaving pups all alone".
So I am not opening that can of worms.
Thank you very much for the warning, I appreciate it. I've been mauled previously by a Chow dog, ended up with nerve and muscle damage in my leg, arm, breast and hand. Which then required multiple ling surgeries. I am lucky to be alive. I will NOT be mauled ever again, if I can help it. I then suffered PTSD for almost 2 years, I was even afraid of my own 2 dogs forseveral months until I sought counseling. I have the right to defend my life, using whatever force is necessary, and I will. So like Mama always said, if you cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. I can take it LOL, let them say what they want. I'm not skerrred. LOL If we cull mean aggressive man killing roosters, I feel the same about dogs. On command by owner is one thing, letting it roam our neighborhood of 5 acre lots is another.

Whats for Thanksgiving?
Anyone traveling?
We are staying home.
Gonna have home grown roast chicken and dressing. Pecan pie and of course sweet tea
We are staying home, me, hubby and my Son that lives with us. Hubby is going to put our Turkey on the smoker, I'm making my cornbread stuffing & sweet potatoes, pumpkin & cherry pie, homemade loaf of sweet yeast bread and yup sweet tea! :)

My girls not doing real good this morning. She acts like she's in pain.
She ate a little, drank a little, walked about 50 feet fell off sidewalk into grass and just sat there. She tried to get up, ended up with left leg extended behind her and just sat there breathing hard and trembling.
I picked her up, she's in wagon in garage with food and water. Suggestions? I think she may just be sore, but not sure. No visible wounds other than a few marks below eats on both sides. She did get man handled pretty good by the dogs and was laying in a head when I got to her. Head turned backwards. I thought she was dead but saw her breathing, I cussed at she hopped right up and took a couple of steps.
I sure am hoping she makes it, man that sucks that she got her so badly. It may just take a few days for her to heal up. I'm really not sure. I did have a chicken break a beak pretty badly awhile back and acted like she had a concussion for several days. She made it much to my surprise, but I did hand feed her cooked egg and her favorite treat strawberries. That took 30 minutes 4 times a day, holding her seemed to stop her trembling, I'm sure she was in pain and being comforted helped.
