you know to drain your plumbing if it gets prolonged ? and to keep a thin trickle of water going in sinks even before that. (moving water does not freeze all the way, stops the expansion that bursts plumbing)

If you can't drain an elbow (under the sinks and tubs) you put anti-freeze in it. If you don't have that, vinegar and salt will stop the water freeze until it gets to a much lower temp.

I am praying for you, I know how hard cold is, and when you aren't used to it, and the house is not built for it, things are just harder.

oh, and just like we say about the birds, eat when you are cold! digestion keeps you warm. (great time to get the rest of the ice cream out of the freezer, since it will spoil anyway ;) )

and if you do BBQ (and who wouldn't want hot food when they are cold?) it is ONLY done outside.

please stay safe 💞

The best way to keep a well and pipes from freezing is to hook up a sprinkler, keeps the well pump cycling. Makes for a great ice display too!

Power came back on last night, just after 10 PM... And has been on all night.... (Fingers crossed)... Here's hoping I get the other house water solved so I can start to solve the frozen well situation over the next few days.

@007Sean take care dude!
Thanks Monk, GVEC, our electric service just sent a text that the rolling blackouts have ceased.
The snow is really coming down now, wet snow, flakes as big as potatoe chips!

Via con Dios, Mi amigo!

Our power only just came back on. We have been without water and electricity since Monday 2 AM. It has been an adventure. It is finally up to 66 indoors I can't wait for the temps to rise more so I can shower and shave
The lowest my indoor temp got was 60°, that was with only the small heater operating. After hooking up the big heater, I've been able to keep it at 73°F.

Good to hear from ya, thought maybe you froze to death! :lol:

That's a "roughing it stay-cation" if ever there was one. Glad you have juice to chat with us finally.

I got the water line from street to house fixed at the other house. Tested the pipes for PSI ... There is *Definitely* at least one spot with ice lodged in the feeder pipe in the houses foundation. Not all the fausets have cold water at them but, all hot do so water is getting all the way to the water heater and from it.... So if the power stays on there or the rolling is minimal, it should stay warm enough to melt the last bits of ice for a PSI test tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to a shower .... I've had enough water jugs to keep teeth brushed and hands washed but, that's it for emergency "roughing it" and keeping water rotated that's thawed for chickens and dogs bowls filled with enough water....
