The deer are the ones that get mine!

SIL is getting most of these after they are started. She asked how to protect them from the deer. I told her away from deer paths. Want to guess where she has the orchard planned? Deer highway #1. Time for plan B.

3 or 4. That would be fantastic to get some cuttings.

PM me an address. The first group was from the front yard tree. The dogs pruned the backyard tree and I need to get it cleaned up before it decides to wake up again. Good use for the cuttings.

Cut them off your existing fig trees. I've got 3 huge fig trees.
Cut'em, dip'em in root starter and put'em in a container of perlite and keep watered until they root.

Don't suppose you'd entertain the idea of starting a couple for @Matejka and I to stick in the ground later this year?

Dang! Never had that problem, so I don't have a solution for that. I wonder if the "snake" hose would work with them too?

New Waverly isn't that far from Baytown.

It is easy to get the pruning, dip it in starter, wrap it in newspaper/damp paper towels, stick it in a plastic bag and stick in in the mail. This is DD#1's method. It works. Takes 2-3 weeks for the roots to start, but at week 4 most had roots and couple showed promise.

After you get it, you could do Sean's stick it in damp dirt and wait 3-4 weeks. Or change the paper towel out and keep damp for 3-4 weeks. Pot up or plant when ready.

Guess I need to prune the tree tomorrow.

I can't do that.
I have 1 fig tree, we got "it" last year, had a rough time finding it . Its SUPPOSED to be brown turkey fig "tree". It totaled 10 figs last year, they were very good.
WHY do I say "supposed" and "tree"?
Literally a stick- 5 foot tall with leaves and a fig by each leaf. No branches, nothing, NOTHING to prune. !nd I do not know how to make it branch

How are you feeding it? Feed it more & it should blossom. Compost, mulch and maybe some amendments?

Grandpa had his huge fig tree in the compost bin. He fed that thing well. Under the pecan tree too.

You can prune the top 3 buds off & root that. Should sprout back. Try to keep 3 buds or more per prune.

Got 2 last year. 1 has branches and other produced figs. Fertilized every 2 months. 1 in pot 1 in ground. The potted 1 has branches, 7 and is budding out now.

The other one in ground is a stick with 3 branches

Close to the house & sidewalk? A little constrained? I put mine in the yard away from everything.

I think i buried the front yard one too deep. Cut off four stems from it last year.
Backyard one, the dogs uses for toothpicks.

Both are getting big. 5 years since rooting & they are growing much faster in the ground.
