Texas

I LOVE that idea! We need to get with Dan about that. Talked to him at the show this weekend-that is one super guy-really like Dan a lot.
The more promotion these little guys get in Texas, the better.
Now we just need to relax these Ag laws a bit so that some out of staters can come show in our beautiful State! While I understand and appreciate that Texas is trying to prevent disease from coming in, we are limiting ourselves by not being able to have National meets and things.

I know what you are saying, it sure hurt the chicken and Pigeon shows, But I have no ideal how to change it,Dan just restarted the Chicken Club here about a Month a go, There was no club putting on the BBC it was just Dan and a couple of orther's, that i know of

Hi
I am just trying to understand... Is it against our Texas Laws to bring a chicken or duck into Texas from another state?

I don't think so. It is illegal to sell without NPIP, especially from state to state. But i'm not aware of any laws prohibiting you from bringing fowl from one state to another, specifically not Texas.

What made you think so?

Hi Kim! How's Ashes doing? You would have loved the show this weekend, they had TONS of beautiful Silkies there.

It's not illegal to bring birds in from other states, but it is pretty difficult to get them in IF you go by the Ag laws.
I had a pair of Butterscotch Call ducks shipped from Illinois a few months ago and it was unreal the amount of paperwork/testing she had to go through to get them down here!
Our shows are not open to out of state exhibitors, which is really a shame.

From what I under stand is you can ship birds in But you can not drive them over in a car, Now if you go OKLA lets say, If you get health Papers on them from the vet you can take them to OKLA to show and bring them back ,I don't under stand why out of state birds can't come here but i know it is against the law for them out of state to come here,That is why all our shows are for TX , only, go figure, I know I can sell birds here all day long with no problem, But i can not go across the street and sell them, I can ship birds in from LA but I can not go to LA and pick them up and bring them here ,All I know the Law is all mess up

Yep, we have shot ourselves in the foot with our Ag Laws.
In order to get birds into Texas, you need AI tests, NPIP Certification and a Health Certificate, like Pigeon said.
What the deal is, I THINK, is that our laws are so stringent here in Texas, the other states assume our birds are clean and allow us to ship out.
When I sell birds, even in the state, I make sure that the person I am selling getting birds to gets a copy of my NPIP papers-just as a CYA type thing for me.
Like I said, I totally understand the logic behind the laws, but man it makes it TOUGH to buy birds from out of state!

Hey ya'll. I posted an issue under the disease/injury topic about an eye issue spreading through my flock. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to have to put any of them down if I don't have to . . . There is the feedstore in Livingston that I get some of my supplies from and if they don't have a particular medicine I can ask if they can order it. Has anyone else had this problem?
