I never thought about giving her a sinus tab... Pigeon, for my future knowledge, is it just like Tylenol cold and sinus tablets? Do I put the whole tablet or break it into pieces? Do I just throw it all the way to the back of the throat and hopefully she swallows? I love you guys, I learn sooooo much!
I ended up taking Ashes to Broadway Oaks Vet clinic, she saw a Dr Richardson. Prior to going to the clinic, Ashes was acting normal... normal breathing, no panting, just sneezing every once in a while. I guess the drive and the pet carrier stressed her out, and by the time we got there she could hardly catch her breath. She was panting and screeching like crazy. I'm sure the Vet thought I was the worst chicken-momma ever. He told me that she looked really bad and he thought she was close to not making it. I explained to him that 30 minutes earlier, she was running around eating raisins and beating up the cat...I think he thought I was dilusional. He gave her a shot of Baytril and is going to keep her overnight and try to feed her (she is a skinny little thing). I am praying like crazy she will be all better soon.
He did feel around in her abdomen and no egg. So maybe she is just not ready and is getting stressed out practicing and then her respiratory stuff kicks in??? Or, with my luck, SHE is a HE... she is almost 7 months old and no crow... and no egg... If she turns out to be a boy, I don't care, I am keeping her
EastTxChick, when Ashes first started sneezing last month, I switched from regular pine shavings to Aspen Shavings - I heard about them from Pat on the Chicken Whisperer show. Ashes kept sneezing but the dust decrease was significant... at least I can now breathe now when I am scooping poop!
Anyway, if anyone is looking for a chicken vet in San Antonio, I LOVED this place. Dr Richardson could not have been nicer and there are birds everywhere. The guy at the front office said he understands about chicken owners and how much we love our birds.
So everyone, please say a little prayer that my Ashes starts feeling better soon! She is very special to me and my husband's favorite !
