Anything further West happen in TX? I've never been to a show or anything! I'm probably missing out huh?

Pamela, Exhibition Poultry is an E-Magazine that has a good current listing of shows. What did you have at the Bluebonnet? http://www.exhibitionpoultry.net/
I hapened to hear about Beaumont from the other lady that had geese at the Bluebonnet. She was kind enough to show me where the application for it were.

Colie: You can check that listing, too. There's a show in Abilene in the fall, too. I've never been. We're very new to showing and since we have such large birds, there's not always coops available.

EastTXChick: Wow, that's a harsh schedule! Is he in the military? Beaumont is a long way for us. I'm still thinking and need to makeup my mind quick. I may not have anything worth bringing. My geese are laying and I've only got a couple of ganders that are decent. The feathers on the breasts of most of the young ones (especially the one that won at BBC) are pretty ragged out. I think they were trying to get into the barn and King Henry was doing the "None shall pass!" routine. He may be the only thing I have worth taking.

I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to meet at the BBC, but you likely heard Henry shrieking. I think his objective was that everyone knew he was there! He's still convinced it was all about him. I can't find good info on exactly where that fairground is. That website is no help where the Poultry Info is concerned.

We're committed to go to La Grange, because it's only a 4 hr drive and I need to meet someone there who's bought some birds from us. I will have a hatch due just after that. If I'm lucky. The power was doing all kinds of bad things last week. So far they're all alive, even one that I was sure had been frozen! Over 70 today!

I have to say I HIGHLY reccomment the Petsafe wireless containment system for dogs. I got one for Blue yesterday, after him spending two months living every moment outside on a leash of some sort. For his own safety, so he wouldn't jump the fence to chase cars. After one time of hitting the end of the boundary, Blue realized the flags were what kept him safe. He's staying in the boundary lines and showing NO interest in cars! So, last night I let the dogs out without having to put Blue on the tie chair, and laid down to watch TV. Woke up several hours later and sounds of a fight were all in the yard, growling and snapping. Then I heard what I thought was someone stepping on a bag of chips, but a thousand times louder. I ran out, half awake, and found my dear Blue shaking the LARGEST oppossum I'd ever seen. He killed it, and it's babies, but it managed to kill my favorite hen first. If it weren't for this invisible fence, Blue would have been on his run cord/chain and that oppossum would have gotten away. Titan and Trixie had long since crawled through one of the open windows to come inside. So, Blue is back to being flock protecting Blue all thanks to my new, 300 dollar containment system.

P.S. He slept at the coop door for the rest of the night, barking and growling at everything that made a noise.

I second this recommendation! My mother uses it for her Belgian Malinois and it works great. I used one for about a month before we could extent our 4 ft fence to 7 feet since my dogs are pretty big guys. It worked great for us and they learned how to use it very quickly! I sold it to a family friend for her Belgians after we were done with it and it's working great for her as well. I bought the batteries off of Ebay and it saved me a lot.
