Hello all! I'm Chris from Beaumont, TX. I'm new to chickens and very glad to find this site. Stumbled here because I'm tired of buying eggs but now I see that this should also be a fun hobby (like I need another one)!

hi yj-4bt and welcome!
it is a very fun hobby and very addicting when i started i was thinking maybe have 6 hens

now i have 36 chickens ( some are chicks still) and of course hatching eggs on their way in the mail, duck eggs in the incubator

I started with 8 and now have 70. Yikes, what happened !​

I started with 10 baby chicks and now I only have 4 girls ... I really really want to live where I can have roosters -- broke my heart to have to re-home my boys!

i live in town so no roos here either. the only roos i have are chicks and once i can tell that they are roos or they crow, i rehome them or process them.

I know what you mean about adding another hobby.
I quilt, do polymer clay, and sew a few craft items. And now getting ready to start teaching myself how to make rag rugs. LOL

I am in decatur Texas. We are 30 minutes North of the Fort worth area. Not far from the Texas Motor Speedway.

Howdy fellow Texans,

So I really want to get chickens but my husband wants me to see what I'm going to be getting myself into. So that said, I live in San Antonio, Northwest side, anyone else out there in San Antonio that wouldn't mind giving me a tour of their coop and maybe be a mentor to a new chicken owner wanna be? I'm a mostly stay at home mom so I'm available most days to make plans as long as you don't mind my two year old son taging along.
