Texas

Oh, don't worry. We will be riding as soon as next week, but her feet are a little... out of shape? They look off. Don't like the work of the farrier where she was at. She's a little thin for where I like her, but she's home. Gonna put about 100lbs back on her before we ride, and on the grass that's out here and the alfalfa wont take but a few days with this gluton. LOL

Also, does anyone out there have any tips for a 3 year old that's fine when she's being led with a rider, fine saddling, and everything in between... but once she's alone she comes UNGLUED. I think I'm going to have my mother come ride her mare while I ride this filly and see what's going on. She's my neighbors QH, didn't do this until AFTER she came back from the 'trainers'. May open a thread for thoughts on this...

To shesaredroan - Where are you located? How old is this dog, approx? I have a friend looking for a lab I can talk to. She's willing to take on the hard cases like him, as she retrains them for service dogs and such. Her dog, Clyde, is retiring this year.

welcome home Mama,
glad she arrived safe and sound. Now for her to rest so the 2 of you can ride till you can't ride no more LOL

Hi, My name is Shannon and I live about 50 miles south of Houston, Tx. I have a little of everything it seems in the way of chickens. I am currently trying to hatch my first goose. I am looking for a few more. Lol! I also have horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. etc. Drop me a message if you want to be "friends.

Shannon,
This is a great site to be on if you own chickens. Can learn so much off this site. And the Texas group is really great. Nice to meet others who live in your state and maybe in your home town.

I am Deana and I live in Rhome, Texas. We are about 30 minutes North of Fort Worth. I live her with my husband and 3 daughters. We run a horse rescue as well.
We are owned by our own horses, goats, pig, donkey, Lots of chickens, dogs, cats, turkey and his mate, 2 geese and she is sitting on eggs right now, and 2 ducks. I think I got everyone mentioned.

For chickens I have buffs, lavender Orpingtons, Silkies, EE's, white EE's, and trying to figure out if my others aer Australorps or Jersy Giants lol and I have a few roo's that I have no idea what they are.

Orumpoultry - I hope they're using a bosal on that young horse. Having mom come ride with you sounds like a good plan. That "trainer" did something, that's for sure.

Rockin R Farms - I've heard that if the bottom of the feet are yellow then it's a Jersey Giant.

I have a huge problem. I am attached to my one of my Cornishs, Big Bird, who is supposed to be dinner in 4 weeks! I broke the #1 rule of raising meat chickens.... my grandparents would be so ashamed of me.

Shesaredroan- Ok that makes it make a lot more sense. Thats a horrible situation. I couldn't bring myself in most cases to shoot a dog, but when they've gone feral and are threatening chickens, I'd just call it a coyote. It might as well be.

Big Bird...you named your dinner Big Bird? I had a strict no-naming rule that lasted right up until my wife saw them. Her family names/nicknames everything. Now we don't have a single bird that can be dinner. I feel your pain.

My son named it when she was 2 days old & we thought it was an Orpington (TSC mislabeled) and she would be an egg layer, not one we would eat. She was bigger than the others and the name just stuck, now that we know she is a Cornish X she only has a short time left on her lifespan. Every time my husband is outside he calls her and rubs his BBQ pit. I married a twisted man.
