Quote: Now I really MUST find a poultry show to go to. I'll bet they are absolutely dazzling in the light. Most gorgeous coloring I've ever seen! One om my mother-in-law's ducks looked to be part mallard. Had beautiful blue patches on his wings and a green head. He was so pretty. I think I must be a duck person. I always look more closely at those than the chickens! Brie

We're out in the country near Terrell.  Not too far from you.  At least I don't think it's that far, but then I'm used to driving all over creation just to go grocery shopping :)

So far I haven't found many shows here in TX besides the one they have in New Braunfels, Bryan/College Station, and some way down in S. TX.  I did see one advertised that is going to be in Abilene, I think in Sept.

Someone on another thread posted a link to get a DVD/CD of basically something like "showing chickens for newbies".  Haven't had a chance to check it out and see if it would be worth getting.

What kind of chickens are you thinking about showing?  We've got Javas.
LF Cochins & ameraucana. Do you know if isbars can be shown? My cochin.s r from 4-h show stock and ameraucana ate Shaffer lines. I'm bringing in some of bo's line of.cochin to improve mine as well. I would love to see some pics of your Javas! You aren't too far from me! Bout 30 -45min!!!

I don't think that Isbars have been admitted to the Am. Poultry Assn. but I think that one of the ways that people work to get a breed admitted to the APA is to show them, even if they don't win anything, just to get exposure for the breed.

I've got a few picturs of the chickens here and here. I'm working on getting some more. I swear our chickens just do NOT want their photos taken. Tried to get some twice this week but they were more interested in just sticking their tails in the air while they were digging around in the grass instead of looking photogenic.

I haven't seen many good pics of known Ameracaunas - most photos I see are of "Easter Eggers" of unknown origin. If you have any pics of yours, it would be neat to see them.

Hi Rosewolf, I am fairly near you:) I live between Elmendorf, and Pleasanton. Just off 37. Have you ever been in any of these shows?

I've been to the Fancy Feathers show in San Marcos. It is a small show (but growing!) and we thought it was very nice with a Lot of promise.

I'd like to make that show next year. I'm in Dripping Springs, west of Austin. Have 20 hens 2 roosters and bunch of heritage turkeys, mini dairy goats and a Komondor and two cats.

Maybe someone can give me some ideas. I bought a dozen Blue Laced Wyandotte eggs and had them incubated. I now have 7 roosters and 3 hens. I have been trying to sell the roosters on craigslist with no luck. I would like to get rid of six of the roosters. They are 23 weeks old and are nice birds. Any ideas would be appreciated.
