Texas

I have never had luck "selling" roos, just had to give them away, no matter what breed. Yes, I know most ended up in the pot, however, I knew they had a good life with me and the people I gave them to did not use them as fighting bait.

I am in Hallsville, between Marshall and Longview. Probably a little far for you to pick up one. But if you have friends in East Tx!!!!!!!!

Thanks Jenette, I would really like to make this one. At least to see what they are like...

I had forgotten all about this thread! Hellooooo everyone!

Been a long time since I've posted here so quite a few things have been happening.

Besides trying to keep myself and all the poultry and waterfowl cool I've been trying to cull down my chicken herd(s) as much as possible. Trying to go through my Light and Coronation Sussex flock mainly. Going to keep just the best of the best, and sell the rest. Winter is fast aproaching (it can't come soon enough, sick of this awful heat! ugh) and my feed bill is already high, and they have bugs and things to eat so when winter comes and I have nothing I'm going to be buried in feed bills!

Does anyone else sprout for their birds? Bought two 50 lb. bags of whole oats today. Going to try and sprout some. I was thinking, since my geese just eat grass/weeds/veggies/ etc they aren't going to be very happy or healthy if they don't have greens. If I can sprout indoors all winter long, that will solve that problem. And I'm sure the chooks, quail, guineas, and peafowl wouldn't mind some either!

Anybody else have waterfowl on here, besides me? Currently I have 1 Roman Tufted Goose, 4 Sebbie x Roman goslings, and one pure White Sebastapol gosling. Oh, and a pair of Buff Geese. Then in ducks I have Rouens, Runners, Swedish, Calls, Buff Orpingtons, Khaki Campbells, Magpies and a couple odd balls. Looking for Welsh Harlequins, Black/Fawn Runners, more Calls, and all others. Whatcha got?

Also, anybody else raise Sebastapols? I found one lady in Fritch (hour from Amarillo) that has some. I bought my 6 new geese off her. However, I'm going to need another line to work with. I've thought about ordering some goslings from CelticOakFarms, but would really like to find a good breeder in Texas.

Got up this morning, fed everyone. Started cleaning out my poultry building..fun stuff! NOT! Got 90% done. Wasn't able to clean out the Sussex pen very good. Now just gotta get hay from the barn (can't get to it now, as there are some crazy 2 y/o bulls in there..they are going to the sale tomorrow), and put DE in all the runs and also dust and perhaps worm everyone. What does everyone use to help keep mites etc at bay?

Also, curious as to how everyone else is keeping their stock cool? The ducks and geese have a kiddie pool out front and several other water dishes they can jump into, and the chickens I just spray down with the hose, and freshen up their waterers several times daily. The Guineas are on their own, the peachicks seem to be fine as long as they have fresh water and shade.

By the by...if anyone is looking for Bantam Lavender/Splash Cochins, Marraduna Basques, or Olive Eggers please PM me. I have eggs available that need to be incubated!

Hey!
I'm off Creek Rd.

I live on Signal Hill Rd for many years - on the hill.

Nice to meet you!

We lived there also on Signal Hill also about 6 years ago, we rented 1 of those houses that was moved on the left side right at the top of the hill (the lot had 1 mobile home and 2 houses that were moved from Terry Town), next door to the lady with the Cockatoos. We lived there for about a year while our house was being built. Now we are on Kit Carson :). Small world!

I just lost my golden laced wyandotte roo. I am looking for a roo of a breed that lays brown eggs. I live near San Antonio.
