My husband served two tours in Vietnam and also suffers from PTSD, and he wanted to give you a virtual "ATTA-BOY!" and congratulations, along with thanking you for your service.

We are both thrilled with the helpful and giving people here at BYC who gave you such good advice and convinced you to stick around. It sounds like your problem has been resolved, thanks to your lawyer, and now you can get back to feeling better again.

Wonderful news!

First, do you really need to have a cement foundation? I just had a 12'X36' chicken house built on skids to avoid having to run permits and mess around with all that.
Is there some way to jack up the building and slide it over an a skid type "foundation"? That way you shouldn't even have to run permits for any of it. Here is is any building up to 120 sqft needs a permit if it has a permanent foundation.
I bet if you go down to the VFW and ask around, you can find people to help you to do the raising and moving. Also, you might even recruit more chicken lovers with the same affliction who need chickens to help them cope too. Rabbits are also wonderful to help relieve stress and you can keep those easily enough in a garage OR right in with the chickens by mounting their cages on the walls! Win Win!!!
Also, if you are interested, and you can't have roosters, I have a lovely little Sebright hen who crows right along with the boys! Then when they neighbor complains about that, you can show them the little white eggs she lays. ha ha ha-ha haaaa ha!
I hate ignorant people.
Thanks for serving. I am sorry about your PTSD.

Thank you for your service! I am glad the chicken tractor is moving your way, great idea! And, I think chickens are very Therapeutic! I'm also impressed with this BYC crowd! You are all so supportive and lovely!

Oh, this warms my heart. Thank you for your service and thank you for being persistent.

I have three hens that are just 6 months old and LOVE them. I can have the worst day at work and that is all erased just watching them hunt and peck for seeds and treats when I get home. I hope your chickens bring you as much love and joy that mine bring me.
