That possum clawed one of my old girls! Help⁉️

The booboo looks great!

I don't see bumblefoot signs but the nails really could use a cut.
Just cut a tiny bit at a time.
Doesn't it look great? I'm so proud that she is healing up so good. All of my girls need a trim. What do you use to cut them with?
The pictures of the eyes are interesting. I cannot remember reading earlier, but do you know why they are blind, or have you had Mareks in the flock?
Have no clue why! I bought them at an auction with two others. They were blind when I got them.

I don’t use dog nail clippers.
I have a designated pair of regular people toenail clippers that I use for my chickens.

I always wrap them up snug in a towel first with just their head and feet sticking out, and hold them in my lap usually outside on a sunny day. I find the natural light helps you see better.

And a good strong nail file works too if you have the patience to do it that way, and the chicken will let you.

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg My old girl is healing up so well! Here are pictures I took today. It looks like she is getting feathers back, I'm so glad. I was just trying to imagine how I would prevent her from getting a sunburned booty! I think we are doing fine. I'm moving her old sister back out to the coop soon. She is molting in my guest bedroom! It is a mess! I will slowly acclimate her back outside. Maybe a few hours each day. She's been in that warm bedroom for three weeks now. I think she has cabin fever! She throws fits on me when I help her out of the crate! She flaps her wings and turns in circles, and the feathers are flying every where.

I tap in the food so they know where it is. I place the water right beside it. They are learning where to go. It's just amazing to watch them learn. I guess you are never too old to learn. I had a hard time at first, but now we have a little routine 6-8 times a day. It's been a good learning experience for me.

I want you all to see the amazing healing this old girl has! It's not pink or red now, it's just a good flesh color. See what you think? Let me know!

Wow Kim! Great Job :highfive:
What a difference in the initial pictures and those last ones!! You really have done an amazing job - 1st prize rosette for this Chicken Mama please someone! :)
Seriously, she is lucky you have the patience and dedication you have. That was one nasty injury which could have had a real different result without your care. Well done :hugs
