Pine shavings that have been used with prior chicks, refreshed with a little bit new. Kinda like deep litter method in the brooder.

Can I use the deep litter method in a brooder with ducklings?

I did the rice thing and it actually came down too far and had to put the wet sponge back in lol.

I'm sorry hun, but that's kind of funny. Did you help that one with the pip..or is it zipping? Looks like you assisted?

Yeah When I checked on them this morning. I heard a really wierd sound from the incubator and it was from her egg. Turned out to be breathing in part of the membrane and i took me a few chips to find her beak. it was a very slow process cause i didnt want to make her bleed but after i got her nostril in open air she did great

Well I am down to 77 eggs in the hatcher now. Candled last night before locking them down and found two quitters. Not too bad I think.

Not too bad..that's a lot of chicks coming your way! Do you keep most?
