They lay egg together too? They will share and raise the chicks together. You are very lucky to have those two. They will not kill each others chicks.

They did raise their babies together. They used to be mine, but a friend has them now. I took the photo, the black one is a little cochin bantam, and the other is a BO. Thank you Happy Chook for the compliment on the photo.

Heading for bed early tonight. At least shutting the computer down, it needs a rest as much as I do.

Preliminary basic plans ( working on directions )
Incubator Plans:

Material;
7/16" Playwood ( Home depot or Lows will cut to size for free )
1" X 2" ( for holding turners )
6" fan 120v
8" metal duct or coffee can (metal )
Incubator heating element (or alternative heat source )
2-Wafer thermostats ( con use 1 but I use 2 for protection against failure )
Power cord.
Wire nuts
2" X 2" drip edge flashing (meant for metal roofing )

Oh- I wanna do this! How do I play? I will set my Orpington eggs! Are any more prize eggs needed? I have Jubilee, BBS, chocolate/mauve and lavender!

Count me in... Even though I've had horrible hatches lately...they are all doing great.. Right it up to lockdown... Everyone is moving when I candle as I'm going to lockdown. (One sometimes has internally pipped but not always) but then I get one out (once none!) (hatch befor this one got one. Baby out of 8 and then she died after about a week. These are my own eggs... Last year I had much much better rates. (Sigh) I have some welsh harlequin eggs coming... I'm hoping maybe the girl I'm hatching from is just not getting enough of something... (Trying adding yougurt/kefir and or scrambled eggs)

BTW, if I get another zero hatch, I'm hitting the feed store and lying. Just wanted to be an honest liar.

Who knows. Maybe one of my super broodies will feel the need to sit for me.

Good Morning Everyone.

Today Im going to try to figure out a plan for 3 of my 9week old chicks. I have 2 OE roosters and 1 BBCM pullet that I want to separate from my 7 Silkies. I think Ill put the 3 bigger ones in the garage for now, I feel like the roosters are too big and they pounce on the tiny Silkies so Its time to separate them I think.
