Update on the chicks the post office gave away. The guy that got the chicks has not returned any of the numerous messages left by the PO lady. In the meantime, I called the hatchery and they instructed me not to accept the shipment, because I don't know where those chicks have been and how the box has been handled. And don't accept it especially if it has been opened. I totally agree with them. They are sending a replacement shipment at no charge and will file a claim with the post office.

Yay! Sorry you have to wait but better to get the chicks directly from the hatchery.

Oh good, at least you are getting more sent. What a relief. Now, the wait. Sorry.

I'm glad you got an update for us. I was going to say even if the guy returned them to NOT take them home. Who knows what bugs/germs he's got in his farm. So glad the hatchery is thinking & ready to send you a new batch. Best of luck!

Quote: You're welcome. 32-35% humidity will be fine until Day 18.

Random question that maybe someone knows the answer to or where i can find it.... Barred rock chicks are supposed to be a sex link type of chicken (i think) the spot on the head... does that indicate male or female?
Males will have a messy head spot, females will have a defined head spot. When the wing feathers come in, males will have more white in the barring and females will have more black in the barring.

OH MY GOSH… the post office gave my chicks to someone else!!!!!

Apparently the other person was picking up a lot of chicks and she (the lady at the post office) assumed all the chicks went together. So, forget reading the address labels, let's just hand over the living creatures without making sure they are going to the right place. UGH. Now she can't get a hold of the guy she gave my chicks to. I am LIVID.
