What's the best way to clean mucky eggs? I just bought some EE eggs for the HAL and some of them are pretty dirty.

I usually wait until they have a little meat in them. When I've butchered in the past I usually would wait until they were about 22 to 24 weeks.

They are usually still a little tender and dress out easily. If you wait too long then they toughen up and are hard to skin a d pluck. Unless you have a whiz banger to pluck them with.

manna pro sells an egg cleanser that has instructions for cleaning hatching eggs.

If it is dry dirt brush it off. If it is sticky goo, use water that is about 85 degrees and rinse with it.

The Manna Pro cleanser works fine--I have used it to clean dirty eggs and the eggs hatched fine.

Finally got my roo!! He is a Welsummer. I set 2 eggs today under a broody Orp and will save the rest for the hatch a long!! He lost the top of his comb over the winter.

Can someone with a Brinsea Octagon 20 please tell me where the serial number is on it? I got mine a couple weeks ago and now I'm trying to register it, but I can't find the SN on it. Thanks.

Ha Ha ron, I know my sexlinks are better layers than most of my pures. Or..are they considered pure now? lol..I know my leghorns are always great. My sexlinks and my leghorns are an egg a day for a lot time without going broody. I'm excited..my black sexlink pullet was checking out a nest box today..any time now! :yiipchick

Haha that isn't our coop!!! Our roo and 8 hens stay there since we have 63 hens the roo cannot cover all the hens so it is impossible to find fertile eggs.

on the side that the power cord is hanging out of there is a little cover held on by 1 screw, remove the screw take the cover off and serial number should be printed on a little tag right there inside of that. The temperature in just screw is under there also.

Ya my duck eggs are doing fine I turned about 3 times already but one thing I don't get is I always havre it at my desired temp the. When I put eggs im it goes down about 5 degrees so I always have to mess with it for a few days but it hasn't gone very high or low so it's fine this always happens bu thte humidity is fine

Yes, when you add eggs the temperature does go down. That tends to be normal. It *should carry back up on its own without adjustments. If you do adjust keep an eye on it for a while to make sure it doesn't get too high. I know with mine, a little adjustment is a LOT of temperature!
